In R-nat, me "losing" Orcas to collapsing wormholes have become a bit of a internal joke. But sometimes interesting stuff happens just because of us doing something we should not have been doing if everything went according to plan. The best war-stories are those that tell the tale of the impossible recovery or winning against all odds. Big and small scale. For R-Nat it's often small.
A week back, I was trying to FC a small chain-rolling operation in our static C2. The system in question had a static C4, and for reasons undisclosed here, we needed to roll a few of those. We planed to chain-roll the C4 for a few hours and I juggled setting up a staging POS, getting three Orcas to where they should be, and instructing people new to w-space how and for what to scan all at the same time.
Maybe I shouldn't have been tired, or more sober, or just payed attention, but as it happened, I managed to order the closing-fleet to jump a C4 that I was convinced was a new one, opened by us. It was not, and it was way beyond half mass. The result: Two Orcas and a surprised Helios trapped in a C4 on the wrong side of a closing wormhole.
If you are lucky, you can get back home real quick and easy, but as chance would have it, not so this time. The static was a C5 and the only thing we found was more C5s and a C1. The C1 was obviously the same as getting to empire, but not if you happen to be piloting an Orca. No amount of lube will help trying to squeeze one through a wormhole and into a C1.
We used the empire-access to get two more scanners in so the Orca-pilots would not have to scan using sub par probes. Eventually we found a nullsec in one of the C5s and got the Orcas out that way. Next day we found a lowsec connection 2j from highsec and only 20j from our home.
When we got back into the highsec system leading back home, our friends was playing with some guy in a Dominix at the wormhole to highsec. Since we had two Orcas incoming, we quickly drafted a plan to simply get him engaged on the WH to highsec and then close it with the Orcas.
It worked, and if we would have been a bit quicker on the bubble we would have got the Scorp and Cane they warped in as well... The poor Domi playing safely with an Orca that surly would jump out soon had to watch as the situation quickly turned into two Orcas, a collapsed HS and bunch of landing T3s...
Since my Orca was the first in, and got to beat on the Domi the longest, it managed top dmg on the KM. There should be some kind of medal for that, right Talaq? :)

Excellent use of mass mechanics to get the kill, and great coordination to get it all working. It just goes to show that high-sec wormholes don't guarantee safety.
And getting top damage in the Orca is good for boasting rights.
