Too little respect

We managed to lose a Tengu plexing (sigh!) a few days ago. And it was not even an escalation. Just a normal Mag site in our home C5.

Last wave in this particular magsite consists of 5 Sleepless Keepers, and they are quite nasty (not at all as the escalation spawns, but still not to be taken lightly).

We lost the Tengu from a combination of three mistakes stacking on top of each other. If you read avionics crash reports this is often exactly what happens, it seldom just one problem/mistake, it's the combination that brings a plane down.
  1. We had perfect boosts, but because of a dual-boxing related mistake on my part the links was off when we needed them as most.
  2. Second mistake was a piloting one. The fleet failed to keep the Tengu that got into trouble in range which means he did not receive full reps. Making sure everybody are in range of each other is vital if you rely on a spider-tank.
  3. Third error was a fitting one. The Tengu lost was not fitted according to corp doctrine, and thus might have had some problems doing what was expected of it. Note that this have nothing to do with however that fit is worse or better, it's more a question of knowing the ships capabilities.

But mostly this was related to us taking the sleepers lightly. Something you really never can do.

One risk with doing higher end PVE content is that you lose respect for the lower types. Combine that with a long period of not even having put your foot in a C5 mag, if ever, and you might get into trouble. Single escalations are easy, so surly we can handle a normal magsite without a carrier and only a few Tengus, right?

I remember not even looking through what kind of sleepers there where in the different waves when we started, I just wanted to get going and thought we could get a few additional Tengus in if it got to dicey.

Stop treating w-space PVE content as a real threat and it will prove you wrong.
